A New Year Is a Great Time to Declutter & Donate in Forney, TX
Do you have young children at home in Forney, Texas? Nothing beats witnessing their joy as they open their gifts. It’s easy to get carried away, though. In the aftermath of the holidays, your house might look like a toy store exploded inside it.
While you undoubtedly feel grateful that your children are loved by family members and friends who enjoy giving them presents, you might now be looking around and wondering just where you are going to put all of their new stuff—especially if your house was already bursting at its seams with your kids’ possessions. Their closets can easily turn into black holes, making it impossible for them to enjoy or even find what they’re looking for.
So, what’s the answer? It’s easy. Donate your kids’ unneeded toys, clothing, and household items to American Kidney Services (AKS). We will collect your tax-deductible* donation, then use it to fund the vital and lifesaving programs of the American Kidney Fund (AKF).
Declutter & Donate to Our Charity
If you’re feeling overwhelmed by clutter, the start of a new year is a perfect time to take control. Carve out some time to simplify your life, and invite your children to join you in your decluttering project. Of course, that might sound like an uphill battle. After all, if you asked them outright, your kids would probably tell you they don’t have anything worth parting with. Here are some effective ways to encourage them to “let go:”
- One in, one out – Give each child two bins, then explain that each time they place an item in the “keep” bin, they should place another item in the “donate” bin.
- Count – Ask each child to count his or her possessions. In general, once an unneeded item is actually in hand, it is much easier to overcome the emotional hurdle of letting it go.
- Establish boundaries – Designate a set space for specific categories of items, such as books, T-shirts, Legos, or dolls, then tell your child that he or she should keep what fits and donate the rest.
When you donate to AKS, you and your children can feel good about it. Use the moment to teach them about the joy that can be found in donating—and also in owning less.
